Data holdings.

Our map data is held as point or polygon features which can be overlayed on the Digimap digital map and orthophotos of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, on orthophotos or scanned maps of Jersey, or on scanned maps of Chausey and the adjacent French coast. Our holdings include:

Botany

Complete lists of plants recorded from the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The computerized card index of the Botany Section of La Société Guernesiaise. This was started in the 1950s and contains records and notes from then on and earlier data.
Digitized records of the Société's herbaria.
Distribution records of Seaweeds, Fungi, Lichens,Hepatics, Bryophytes and higher plants.

Zoology

Complete lists of animals recorded from the C.I.
Distribution records for insects, other invertebrates and terrestrial and marine vertebrates.

Habitats

Maps of nature reserves, Phase 1 Habitat Survey of Guernsey & Herm, soil types, and other physical features in the Bailiwick of Guernsey

Photographs

Historical and recent photographs of habitats and places in the Bailiwick and of the organisms that occur there

References

A collection of over 2000 literature references to the natural history of the Channel Islands, together with many books and reprints.
