1) Raw data from the centre is in the public domain and is part of the island's public records. It may be given to any enquirer for the puposes of nature conservation, research or education.
2) Some data may be treated as confidential or made purposely fuzzy if a species or site might be put at risk by disclosing it.
3) Disclosure of large amounts of data will require management or the data provider's agreement.
4) Copyright and intellectual property rights remain with the recorder. However, the Record Centre may send raw data to National Recording Schemes.
5) The Records Centre will not charge for raw data given to private individuals or States' Departments. It may make a charge, at the discretion of the management team, for producing reports and interpreting data. It may waive this fee if no data is held for that location by the Records Centre.
6) The Centre has a quality control scheme for its data and will not accept records it considers dubious.
